Bubba Kush, also known as “BK,” “Bubba,” and “Bubba OG Kush,” is a popular Indica cannabis strain known for its potent sedative effects, both in the US and internationally. It has a sweet hashish flavor with undertones of coffee and chocolate, and it induces a deep sense of relaxation that eases tension and uplifts mood. Bubba Kush is characterized by its dense, weighty buds that range in color from pale purple to forest green.
The origins of this strain remain a mystery, but its short stature and thick bud structure suggest it has Afghani heritage. According to the breeder who named the strain, Bubba Kush was first created in the late 1990s when an OG Kush plant pollinated an unknown indica strain found in New Orleans. Although the indicia strain was called “Bubba” and reportedly had a Northern Lights mother plant, its exact genetic makeup remains unclear. Despite its ambiguous origins, Bubba Kush has become incredibly popular and well-loved since its introduction in California.
